 Conjuring Glitches

Performance

2020

Conjuring Glitches was performed at The Baboon House, Melaka as part of the online event Post Lockdown Rhapsody after the interstate travel ban was lifted and Malaysia's Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) introduced.

The performance plays around with the idea of 'light' as a representation of 'realm'. By crossing into different areas of space, different colours will get activated. Whether it is the concept of space and mental confinement; the action of entering and exiting the realm; or the connotation of 'portal' through devices and the internet, the performance utilises both backstage streaming work and on-camera performances as performance sections.

Viewers either get to see the performance framed in their devices without awareness of the actual space; witnessing the whole process of on and off-camera life happening in front of them, or a juxtaposition of both happenings. The performance was a reflection of current life situations, where humans and their daily lives are getting more and more accelerated into the digital lifestyle due to the circumstances.
